Oh yeah bring on the blood and guts end I’ve been waiting for as we find out what’s left in store for the Hawks, after their fall from glory there isn’t many members left but what’s left is not yet ready to give up and now that Gutts knows what happened to them he’s up for the most desperate plan to rescues Griffiths from the hands of his sadistic jailers but will it lead what’s left of the band of the Hawks to glory once again or to something more dangerous.
This last disc just doesn’t pulls its punches and wastes not time smashing the crap out of it intended victims as Gutts and the remaining band of Hawk members smash and grab there former leader, but what they find is a shell of the former man they once knew.
And all hope is finally squashed but this is not the real end in store for them Griffith has one final job for his band of merry men.
Here’s a tip if you’re getting this as a box set or have not picked it up yet don’t watch the first episode until you’ve watched episode two to twenty five first.
Now here the reason why!
I have been misleading you guys since the beginning there’s actually been a third side to this story that I have been missing out of my reviews on purpose, the reason is that you only really get this third rail so to speak at the beginning and the end for this series. Well it’s all to do with Griffith’s dream of his own kingdom and the little item that he carry’s that marks him as the next ruler and a member of what is called the God hand a bunch of gods/demons who have been waiting for there fifth member to appear who will allow them to descend to the human realm and basically run a muck, and that’s about it hope you enjoy it.
A note from Ai-chan
“Almost skipped over but this series has a very contentious ending, in fact it doesn’t really have an “ending” the series shifts direction drastically to the world of the supernatural and then leaves it open, Rob’s brief paragraph is right in that watching the episodes out of order would perhaps give you a better experience if you want an “ending or at least some sort of resolution in terms of chronology, but really Berserk’s manga is massive and this anime only covers a fraction, if you’re one of these ”it’s the journey that counts” then it’s all good but if you’re wanting this show to have an ending of the finite variety you’ll be disappointed, just go in knowing that and you’ll be okay as I’ll second Robs berserk recommendation” – Ai-Chan
