After volume four’s cliff hanger I was looking forward to this disc very much, it looks like we’re in for an all change in circumstances now that Katana has decided on what he wants.

Oh boy! Was that a cliffhanger or what? Now that we are over the cliff we’re set for our climb back up again and after watching this set of episodes I would say that it maybe quite a long one. With the events of the previous disc and the first episode of this DVD we have seen many things brought to there boiling point, Hajike being discovered as a heavy metal operator by his family and friends and also having his ass kicked by Katana, not to mention Takumi’s Thunderbolt rampage, and its ultimate outcome.
While watching this, I actually found myself feeling sorry or Hajiki. He’s tried his best to satisfy everybody from his boss to his family, but in the end it all amounted to nothing. And when you have nothing what do you do next?
However at the end of the day I would have to say that this DVD fundamentally still feels like a spacer, a break between chapters. With most of the big events now ended we are left with only small hints as to the next chapters possible direction and subsequent outcome.
Finally pegging what’s been bothering me about Gad Guard this whole time and I am really surprise to have not noticed it before. There is no clear enemy for the Techodes and their pilots to go up against.
I would have to say with this in mind that Gad Guard has tried something unusual. We have started out with people from different backgrounds with different outlooks but with no real power to change themselves or their respective futures. So what happens when you give someone the power to change? I believe that this is what the creator’s of this series are trying to tell us but I don’t think well find that out until the last volume.

"
Here with this DVD we are at the point where everything is calming down but at the same time the tension is climbing and a few new surprises are about to send a new twist through the Gad Guard world. Once again I have been left wanting more, and I hate having to wait for the next volume. "
